BACKPACK PALS BackPack Pals, a partner with Communities in Schools of Pitt County, began in the 2009-2010 school year. We are an innovative volunteer organization to meet the need of children in our schools. The program is designed to provide food to identified children who have little or nothing to eat over the weekend.
Children are identified with input from teachers, counselors and school administration as candidates for the program. Once the identification process is completed, letter go hom to obtain permission from the parents/guardians for the child to participate. Backpacks are then issued to the student free of logos mainting the dignity and anonymity of the participants. The backpacks are sent home Friday afternoon with non perishable, easy to fix, food items.
All donations of food, money and volunteers fo to help the students right here in Pitt County.
